Tactiq (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by Tactiq.

This Privacy Policy applies to our Android application named Tactiq (the “App”) and to this website, Tactiq Chess (the “Website”), together our “Service”. By accessing or using our Service, you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to our collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use.

1. Information We Collect

We utilize Google Firebase and other third-party services which may collect information used to identify you.

Personal Data

When you use our App, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information, including but not limited to:

Email address (for Authentication)
Name (for User Profile)
Game data and statistics (stored in the cloud)

Usage Data & Logistics

We may also collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Service or when you access the Service by or through a mobile device.

Session Replay & Data Masking

We use Microsoft Clarity in the App to improve usability and analyze user interactions through anonymized session replays and heatmaps. Microsoft Clarity captures visual interactions with the App to help us troubleshoot errors and improve the user experience. All sensitive inputs, personally identifiable information (PII), and password fields are automatically masked. Users can grant or withdraw consent for analytics and session recording at any time in the App Settings under Privacy.

The Website

The Website does not require an account and does not set cookies. Specifically:

Local storage. If you solve puzzles on the Website, your progress (for example which puzzles you solved, your streak and an approximate rating) is stored only in your browser’s local storage on your device. It is not sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure performance. It does not use cookies, local storage or fingerprinting and does not track you across sites. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Hosting. The Website is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard connection data (such as IP address and user agent) to deliver the pages and protect against abuse.
Links to Google Play. Links from the Website to the App on Google Play may include a referrer parameter (for example the puzzle you were solving) so that the App can open the same puzzle after installation. It contains no personal data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect in various ways, including to:

Provide, operate, and maintain our Service.
Improve, personalize, and expand our Service.
Understand and analyze how you use our Service.
Develop new products, services, features, and functionality.
Communicate with you, either directly or through one of our partners, including for customer service, to provide you with updates and other information relating to the Service.
Process your transactions (via Google Play Billing).
Find and prevent fraud.

3. Data Retention

We will retain your Personal Information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your Information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our policies.

4. Security of Your Data

The security of your data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

5. Data Deletion

You have the right to request the deletion of your account and associated data. To do so, please follow these steps:

Email us at tactiq.chess.app@gmail.com with the subject “Data Deletion Request”.
Include your registered email address in the body of the message.

Using the App without an account (Anonymous Login) does not require a deletion request, as data is not linked to your personal identity. Upon receiving a valid request, we will delete your account and all associated personal data from our active databases within 30 days. Some data may be retained in our backups for a limited period or as required by law.

6. Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
